Loch Long One Design racing day-boat
'Soonah' is a wooden, racing dayboat of the Loch Long One Design class, and is sail no. 47. She was built in 1959 by Alexander Robertson & Co. of Sandbank, on the southern shore of the Holy Loch. Robertson built boats to a very high standard, and 'Soonah' is no exception, with a beautiful varnished mahogany hull. The current owner bought her in Scotland in 1990 and brought her down to Aldeburgh, where she is now. Loch Broom Post Boat
Built by Bill Bailliff at his yard in Overton, Lancashire, circa 1996, this traditional style craft is derived from the original Loch Broom Post Boats, which were used for the delivery of mail to the remote communities on Loch Broom, Wester Ross. They could be rowed, sailed or motored. The last surviving original example of this type has been on loan to The Scottish maritime Museum since 1987.
